Principal's Newsletter

We are excited to share an update to our daily schedule that will better support learning and opportunities for all students. Beginning October 19th, Eagle Excellence will be held during the final period of the school day. 

This adjustment creates a more seamless daily schedule by allowing students to remain in their academic classes throughout the day while reserving a dedicated block of time for intervention, enrichment, clubs, celebrations, and other opportunities that make the Briscoe experience special. We believe this change will help us maximize instructional time while also providing greater flexibility to meet the needs and interests of our students. 

As part of this schedule update, we encourage families to schedule appointments and student pickups before 4:00 p.m. whenever possible. However, we find it valuable for students to stay on campus through the end of the day. This allows them to take full advantage of Eagle Excellence and all that it has to offer. We understand that emergencies and unexpected situations occur and will gladly work with families when needed.

AVID will be participating in this food drive from October 5th- October 16th. 
They can bring any of the items to their AVID teacher.

Positive Behavior and Supports (PBIS)

This year, Briscoe Junior High is strengthening our commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive approach that teaches, recognizes, and reinforces positive student behavior. At the center of our PBIS efforts is the Briscoe Way, which outlines the expectations and values we want all students to demonstrate each day.

To support this initiative, we will be using the Minga app to recognize and reward students who consistently demonstrate the Briscoe Way. Staff members will be able to award points to students for positive behaviors, and students can redeem those points for items and incentives in our school store. Students are able to access the APP through Classlink.

We invite families to support this effort by donating items to our school store.

In addition, Minga will help us implement a Digital Hall Pass system. Students will use digital hallway passes whenever they leave the classroom. This tool will allow us to monitor student movement throughout the school, improve campus safety, and reduce lost instructional time by ensuring students are in class and learning as much as possible.

 

Our PBIS store is a HUGE success!


Our students have loved shopping at the PBIS Store, and our shelves are already running low! 
We’re asking for your support to help restock the store and keep the positive rewards going. Every donation, big or small, helps us celebrate our students hard work and positive choices.

A Message from the Front Office

Attention Briscoe Parents

The latest a student is able to be checked out of school through the front office is 4:00 pm.
Please make sure you are in the lobby before 4:00 to get the student checked out.
If it is after 4:00pm, your student will NOT be released until the end of the day at 4:30pm.

Early Release Days- the latest a student may be checked out is 12:30 pm. Parent must be in the building before that.

Lunch Policies:
  • Parents are welcome to bring lunch for their student only. Please NO large pizzas.
  • Deliveries by third party companies such as DoorDash and Uber Eats are not allowed and will be turned away.

Attendance:
Please email any doctor/parent notes regarding absences to our Attendance Clerk - Claudia Mirza.

Please include the date, student's full name and ID # and a contact number for the parent.

Skyward Family Access

Family Access is a free service that is available to all parents and guardians with children enrolled in the district. Among other things, this service will allow you to view student attendance, grades, schedule, progress, and assignments. Family Access allows parents and guardians to easily track their students’ progress throughout the school year. There are even applications for Apple IOS and Android devices available from the appropriate app stores.
