Briscoe Families, 


As we wrap up September and look ahead to October, I wanted to share a few important reminders and upcoming dates. 



📅 Fair Day - Friday, September 25 
There will be no school for students or staff as we observe Fair Day. We hope you enjoy the day with family and friends! 

📅 8th Grade PSAT - Tuesday, October 6 
All 8th grade students will participate in the PSAT on October 6. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience with a college-readiness assessment and begin building skills for future testing opportunities.  
  • Please note that 8th grade students will not be permitted to check out early on October 6 until testing is complete. To ensure a secure and uninterrupted testing environment, we ask families to schedule appointments and transportation arrangements around the testing day. Thank you for your understanding and support. 

🍂 Fall Break - October 9-12 
There will be no school on October 9-12 for Fall Break. We hope our students and staff enjoy a well-deserved opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend time with loved ones before returning for a strong finish to the semester.  

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Briscoe Junior High. We appreciate all you do to help make our school a great place for students to learn and grow.

Going GOLD!

The Foster Flairs are proud to participate in a service project each year. 💛

This September, we’re Going GOLD in support of Mojo’s Miracle and childhood cancer awareness month.

Our goal is to raise awareness and funds to support this incredible organization and the children and families impacted by childhood cancer. 🎗️

8th Grade CTE Field Trip

Howdy, 8th Grade Families!

The future is full of possibilities, and our 8th grade students are getting a chance to explore them firsthand!

✨On October 28th, all 8th grade students will have the opportunity to visit the new, state-of-the-art LCISD CTE Center for an interactive day of career exploration. This experience is designed to help students discover the many pathways available to them as they prepare to enter high school and begin making decisions about courses, programs, and their future goals.

During the visit, students will participate in engaging breakout sessions and a CTE Pathway Showcase, giving them the opportunity to explore hands-on career programs, learn about different industries, and interact with CTE instructors. From technical careers and skilled trades to health science, cosmetology, technology, and more, students will get an inside look at the opportunities available right here in LCISD.

Date: October 28, 2026
Departure: 11:30 from Briscoe Junior High
Return: Approximately 2:30
Lunch: Students eat lunch before leaving. Lunch will begin at 11. Please bring a sack lunch or one can be bought from the cafeteria.

🔷Permission slips were sent to all 8th grade families through ParentSquare on September 22. Permission slips must be completed and submitted through ParentSquare by October 5th.

We are excited to give our 8th graders a firsthand look at the incredible opportunities available through LCISD Career and Technical Education!

See to Succeed Program

LCISD will be participating in the “See to Succeed” Vision Program again this year. Briscoe students are scheduled to go on Thursday, November 5, 2026. We are only able to take 60 students per campus, so the first 60 students to return the completed permission packet will go. Packets are available for students to pick up in the Nurse’s Office. 

The completed packet will be due back to Nurse Walker by Friday, October 2, 2026. 
 Packets will not be accepted after this date.

This will be a Field Trip event and includes a Free Eye Exam and a Free Pair of Glasses if needed. (even if they already have a pair of glasses, they can still attend and receive another pair of glasses). Any student who has failed a vision exam is eligible for the Free Exam/Glasses.  Regardless of insurance coverage, there is no insurance information required, and insurance will not be billed. 

Keep in mind before you sign up and take one of the 60 spots that this is an all-day event. Your student will get on the bus during 1st period and return around 7th period. They will be “Excused”, and this absence will have no bearing on their Exemption Eligibility or Attendance, but they will miss their classes that day. Our teachers understand what a great opportunity this is and are always willing to work with our students who attend.

Positive Behavior and Supports (PBIS)

This year, Briscoe Junior High is strengthening our commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive approach that teaches, recognizes, and reinforces positive student behavior. At the center of our PBIS efforts is the Briscoe Way, which outlines the expectations and values we want all students to demonstrate each day.

To support this initiative, we will be using the Minga app to recognize and reward students who consistently demonstrate the Briscoe Way. Staff members will be able to award points to students for positive behaviors, and students can redeem those points for items and incentives in our school store. Students are able to access the APP through Classlink.

We invite families to support this effort by donating items to our school store.

In addition, Minga will help us implement a Digital Hall Pass system. Students will use digital hallway passes whenever they leave the classroom. This tool will allow us to monitor student movement throughout the school, improve campus safety, and reduce lost instructional time by ensuring students are in class and learning as much as possible.

A Message from the Front Office

Attention Briscoe Parents

The latest a student is able to be checked out of school through the front office is 4:00 pm.
Please make sure you are in the lobby before 4:00 to get the student checked out.
If it is after 4:00pm, your student will NOT be released until the end of the day at 4:30pm.

Early Release Days- the latest a student may be checked out is 12:30 pm. Parent must be in the building before that.

Lunch Policies:
  • Parents are welcome to bring lunch for their student only. Please NO large pizzas.
  • Deliveries by third party companies such as DoorDash and Uber Eats are not allowed and will be turned away.

Please email any doctor/parent notes regarding absences to our Attendance Clerk - Claudia Mirza.

Skyward Family Access

Family Access is a free service that is available to all parents and guardians with children enrolled in the district. Among other things, this service will allow you to view student attendance, grades, schedule, progress, and assignments. Family Access allows parents and guardians to easily track their students’ progress throughout the school year. There are even applications for Apple IOS and Android devices available from the appropriate app stores.
