Principal's Newsletter

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first public Parents of Briscoe meeting! We had a great turnout and appreciated the many parents who are willing to support our campus through volunteering, planning, and partnership. Your involvement makes a tremendous difference in the success of our students and school community.

Our next public Parents of Briscoe meeting will be held in the spring. During that meeting, we will begin seeking new board members as several of our current members transition to the high school level with their students. We are grateful for those who have already stepped forward to serve and for everyone who continues to support Briscoe.

A few reminders for the week ahead:
  • Thursday 9/24 is a half day for students.
  • Friday 9/25 is a student and staff holiday for Fort Bend County Fair Day.
  • Football (Tuesday) and volleyball (Wednesday) will both be competing at home this week. We would love to see our students and families come out and support our athletes.
  • Please remember that all students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to enter athletic events.

As we wrap up the first six weeks, we want to thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. We are excited for all that the second six weeks will bring and look forward to continuing the great momentum we've built together.

Thank you for being an amazing part of the Briscoe family and enjoy your long weekend!

Positive Behavior and Supports (PBIS)

This year, Briscoe Junior High is strengthening our commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive approach that teaches, recognizes, and reinforces positive student behavior. At the center of our PBIS efforts is the Briscoe Way, which outlines the expectations and values we want all students to demonstrate each day.

To support this initiative, we will be using the Minga app to recognize and reward students who consistently demonstrate the Briscoe Way. Staff members will be able to award points to students for positive behaviors, and students can redeem those points for items and incentives in our school store. Students are able to access the APP through Classlink.

We invite families to support this effort by donating items to our school store.

In addition, Minga will help us implement a Digital Hall Pass system. Students will use digital hallway passes whenever they leave the classroom. This tool will allow us to monitor student movement throughout the school, improve campus safety, and reduce lost instructional time by ensuring students are in class and learning as much as possible.
