Principal's Newsletter

It has been a busy and exciting few weeks at Briscoe! Girls basketball tryouts are complete, boys basketball tryouts are underway, and cross country continues to make us proud at their meets. A special shoutout to our cheerleaders for the many late nights they have spent supporting our Eagles through volleyball and football playoffs, cross country, and everything in between.

Our band had their first performance last week, and they did not disappoint. My family back home in Dallas thought they were listening to a high school band! I was one proud principal.

This week, our students completed their first benchmark. I am looking forward to seeing the results and using that information to help guide instruction and continue moving our students forward. Semester exams will also be here before we know it, so now is the time to stay focused and finish the semester strong.

As a reminder, student fines are currently posted. Please check your student's account and make plans to pay down any outstanding balances.

I also want to say thank you to our families. I have really enjoyed getting to know you better this year. I appreciate those who reach out, ask questions, share concerns, and are willing to have honest conversations. I will always be transparent, listen to our community, and work alongside you. We are at our best when we work together for our kids.

We have some amazing students and families at Briscoe, and I am grateful every day that I get to be your principal.

Positive Behavior and Supports (PBIS)

This year, Briscoe Junior High is strengthening our commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive approach that teaches, recognizes, and reinforces positive student behavior. At the center of our PBIS efforts is the Briscoe Way, which outlines the expectations and values we want all students to demonstrate each day.

To support this initiative, we will be using the Minga app to recognize and reward students who consistently demonstrate the Briscoe Way. Staff members will be able to award points to students for positive behaviors, and students can redeem those points for items and incentives in our school store. Students are able to access the APP through Classlink.

We invite families to support this effort by donating items to our school store.

In addition, Minga will help us implement a Digital Hall Pass system. Students will use digital hallway passes whenever they leave the classroom. This tool will allow us to monitor student movement throughout the school, improve campus safety, and reduce lost instructional time by ensuring students are in class and learning as much as possible.

Our PBIS store is a HUGE success!

Our students have loved shopping at the PBIS Store, and our shelves are already running low!
We’re asking for your support to help restock the store and keep the positive rewards going. Every donation, big or small, helps us celebrate our students hard work and positive choices.
Thank you for supporting our students and our school!
