Eagle Update

Principal's Newsletter

Briscoe Families,
I honestly can't believe we're already at the end of the second six weeks. This school year is flying by, and every week I find myself more grateful to be a part of the Briscoe community. One of my favorite moments recently was our pep rally. The energy was incredible, and I loved seeing so many of our parents join in the fun. There's something special about watching our students, staff, and families come together and show their Eagle pride.

I also want to congratulate all our football and volleyball teams on fantastic seasons. It was so much fun watching them compete and represent Briscoe so well. Seeing our teams make playoff runs has been exciting, and I couldn't be more proud of them. A huge congratulations to our volleyball team on bringing home a championship! Now we're cheering on our 7B football team as they play for the championship on Monday night. Let's bring home another title!

Our cross-country runners are off to an incredibly strong start, and I am excited to see what the rest of their season holds. They have been working hard and are already making us proud. I also want to recognize our cheerleaders and dance team for joining us at the football playoff games. Your performances were outstanding, and the spirit and energy you brought helped make those games even more memorable.

Speaking of school spirit, I must give a special shout-out to our band students and directors, Mr. Sonnier and Mr. Schurtz. Our band has stepped up in a big way this year. Whether they're in the stands, at pep rallies, or supporting our teams, they bring excitement and enthusiasm wherever they go. Thank you for helping make Briscoe such a fun place to be.

As many of you know, Briscoe continues to grow. We are currently looking for great people to join our team. If you know an outstanding teacher or dedicated coach who is looking for a place where students come first and relationships matter, send them our way. We are also currently searching for an Athletic Campus Coordinator. The truth is, Briscoe is a great place to be because of the people. We have incredible students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and a community that consistently shows up for our school.

Before I close, I want to personally thank all our families and community members who volunteer, support events, and partner with us throughout the year. Your involvement makes a difference, and I feel lucky to serve this community every day.

A Few Reminders:

Semester Exams Are Around the Corner
The semester will be here before we know it. Information regarding exam exemptions will be shared soon, so be on the lookout for those details.

Attendance Matters
Starting during the third six weeks, we're launching our On-Time Eagles initiative. Classes that consistently arrive on time and are ready to learn each day will have opportunities to earn fun surprises and incentives. We want to celebrate students who are building strong habits and making attendance a priority.

ELA Benchmark Assessment
Our 7th and 8th grade students will take the Fall ELA Benchmark on November 5th.
This assessment gives our teachers valuable information about student progress and helps us continue growing our students academically. I can't wait to see how much our students have learned so far this year. Please encourage your child to do their best and put forth their full effort.

Thank you for your continued support of Briscoe Junior High. We have accomplished so much in the first half of the semester, and I know the best is still ahead of us.

Positive Behavior and Supports (PBIS)

This year, Briscoe Junior High is strengthening our commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive approach that teaches, recognizes, and reinforces positive student behavior. At the center of our PBIS efforts is the Briscoe Way, which outlines the expectations and values we want all students to demonstrate each day.

To support this initiative, we will be using the Minga app to recognize and reward students who consistently demonstrate the Briscoe Way. Staff members will be able to award points to students for positive behaviors, and students can redeem those points for items and incentives in our school store. Students are able to access the APP through Classlink.

We invite families to support this effort by donating items to our school store.

In addition, Minga will help us implement a Digital Hall Pass system. Students will use digital hallway passes whenever they leave the classroom. This tool will allow us to monitor student movement throughout the school, improve campus safety, and reduce lost instructional time by ensuring students are in class and learning as much as possible.

Our PBIS store is a HUGE success!

Our students have loved shopping at the PBIS Store, and our shelves are already running low!
We’re asking for your support to help restock the store and keep the positive rewards going. Every donation, big or small, helps us celebrate our students hard work and positive choices.
Thank you for supporting our students and our school!
