Family Access is a free service that is available to all parents and guardians with children enrolled in the district. Among other things, this service will allow you to view student attendance, grades, schedule, progress, and assignments. Family Access allows parents and guardians to easily track their students’ progress throughout the school year. There are even applications for Apple IOS and Android devices available from the appropriate app stores.

During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, House Bill 1481 was passed, prohibiting students from using personal communication devices during the school day and on school property. This change includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, radios, and similar devices. The law applies to all Texas public and open-enrollment charter schools, including Lamar CISD. Exceptions are made for students with documented medical needs or special education accommodations.

All physicals must be turned in on the first day of school. Physicals cannot be given to ANYONE other than the Athletic Trainers so that they can check them and make sure everything is completed and cleared. If anything needs to be corrected, they will let you know at that time.
The following must be present on the physical:
Parent and Student signatures
All medical history questions marked "yes" must be explained in the box on the right
Physician Signature box must have all information completed or office stamp with date of exam and signature.
If you have any questions, please call 832-223-3855 and they will get back to you ASAP.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Kizziah

Hello Briscoe Parents,
To ensure a smooth start to the year, please make sure your student’s updated immunization record is on file with Nurse Walker BEFORE the first day of school. If you are unsure, please email the most up-to-date record to Nurse Walker at marci.walker@lcisd.org or call me at 832-223-4015. However, I will be out of the clinic for much of the next few days attending required training, so calls will be returned as soon as possible.
**Remember, students will not be able to attend classes if they are out of compliance with state-required immunizations. They will be directed to the nurse’s office to call a parent to pick them up until the complete shot record is received.
Student Orientation is Tuesday, August 5th from 5:00-7:00pm at Briscoe. You’re welcome to stop by the Nurse’s Office if you need to bring their shot record, or permission forms, and medication, or have any questions. **Please note, the majority of the district action plans and medication permission forms have been updated. If you have already completed the previously available forms, I will accept them.
Below is a letter from DSHS outlining the state requirements for the 2025-2026 school year.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great year!
Thank you,
Marci Walker, RN

Maintaining safe and secure schools is one of the priorities of Briscoe Junior High School and Lamar Consolidated ISD.
To maintain safe and secure schools, the district expectation is that all staff, students, and visitors wear an ID when they enter the building each day. ID badges are a security measure and are required to be visible while a student is on campus. Everyone in the building knows at a glance who belongs on our campus, and it is a quick way for emergency personnel who may not be familiar with our students to know who is who in an emergency situation. We want to provide a safe and orderly environment to foster student learning, and the ID badges will assist in the security of everyone on campus.
All identification badges must be maintained in the same condition as issued. All badges must be worn on a lanyard around the neck. Students who draw on the identification badge, scratch or deface the picture, punch holes, or apply stickers to the identification badge will have their identification badge taken up and charged for a new one.
Every student will be issued a new ID badge on the first day of school. We suggest that you purchase an extra badge to have as a back-up throughout the school year.
Please help us by encouraging your child to place their student ID in a safe location so they will remember to wear it every day.
*It will be considered a Dress Code violation if a student is not wearing their ID badge.
